On-line Dialogue between Taro Kimura (TK) of Japan and Jim Harris (JH) of England

TK:
Hello.
I’m Taro Kimura from Kobe in Japan.

JH:
Hi, there.
I’m Jim Harris from Brighton in England.

TK:
Hello, Jim.
Nice to on-line meet you.
I’m very pleased to talk to somebody from England, as I hope to travel there one day.

JH:
Really.
That’s a strange coincidence.
I’m very interested in Japan and want to go there as soon as I can save the money.

TK:
Perhaps we could meet when visiting the other person’s country and guide each other around some parts of our countries.

JH:
I’d like that a lot.
How old are you, Taro, and what do you do?

TK:
I’m 24.
I graduated from university last year and am working at a small trading company here in Kobe.

JH:
So you use English at work?
That’s great!
I wish I spoke some Japanese.

TK:
Perhaps I could help you with some basic Japanese language here on-line.
By the way, Jim, how old are you and what do you do?

JH:
I’m a little younger than you at 23 and just finishing a law degree in London.
I will join a medium-sized law firm in London next year.

TK:
Good luck with your studies.
What are your hobbies, Jim?

JH:
I like most sports, especially soccer, rugby and cricket, and do a lot of cycling to keep fit.
I also like dining out and drinking wine.
How about you?

TK:
I’m a big baseball fan and also like rugby.
I work out at a gym at least three times a week.
I also enjoy good food, both Japanese and western, and especially like drinking beer and sake.

JH:
Sorry, I know nothing about sake.
Perhaps you could tell me something about it when we talk again.

TK:
I’d be happy to do so.
Jim, I need to go out now but I’d like to talk to you again soon.
I really hope we can meet one day in person.

JH:
Me, too.
Let’s talk again soon.
Bye for now.

Way to go!
