On August 10, 27 vessels landed the first 510 tons of this season's saury fishery off the east coast of Hokkaido at Hanasaki Port. On October 19, 17 first-year students of Akkeshi Shoyo High School had a practical training session of making canned saury, which is a local product. 　 The canned saury is a popular product sold only at the school festival in July every year. This year's festival was cancelled due to the corona crisis and\]  the product could not be sold to the general public, but it was served to school lunches at the elementary school and was very popular.
