Comprehension questions

Comprehension and discussion questions
1. Why do you think children are often cruel to others they see as being different to them?
In my opinion, there are some reasons. First of all, they are
inexperienced. Even if they know some words, they don't really
understand how it would affect other people. Secondly, they are
influenced by their parents or other adults surrounding them, so their
thoughts might be transferred to children who don't really think so.
かな。。。
2. Do you know anyone physically or socially disadvantaged in some
way who has exceptional personal qualities? Describe them.
I come up with a name of a Japanese man, Hideyo Noguchi. When he was one and a half years old, he suffered a sever burn injury which
made him disabled on his left hand. Despite of it, he had accomplished
to make effective medicine that could cure some diseases.
3. Do you find it surprising that chess can make such a positive impact on children with no education? Why do you think it’s proving to be so
effective?
Yes, I do. I think it is chess at the time, but everything could motivate
them and make a positive impact. Because, basically, those children live in slums rarely have opportunities to learn something. The boy who
won the game hadn't had any education until then. That's why the
impact not only for him but also for other children who are in such poor environment is huge.
4. If you play chess, describe how it has affected your life.
I don't play chess at all.
5. If you don’t play chess, how do you think it could benefit you as an
adult?
Well, some people say that playing puzzles might avoid having
dementia. If it's true, chess can be one of choices to do so. Or, maybe, I could sink into the game, if I found it interesting like I've been doing with learning English.
Whether I agree with your opinions or not, I definitely respect
what you think.
