毎年この時期は世界中が慌ただしくなりますね。一人の予定が変化するだけでも相乗効果が生まれるのに、年の瀬はそれが一気に起きる訳ですからドミノ倒しも良いところです。改めて社会は人と人との関係で成り立っているんだなと実感します。
今年も良い事悪い事色々な事があり、私達はそれらを乗り越えてきました。
クリスマスや年末ぐらい、心に平穏があっても良いじゃない! because we deserve it! というメンタリティーで走り抜けましょう :)

Environmental soundsとInstrumental soundsの動画を見てみました。学習者(子供)は目隠しをして、先生の出す音を聞き、何の音かを当てるというレッスンです。Environmental soundsでは、先生が水の入ったボトルを振ると、学習者は「Water!」と答え、飴の包紙をくしゃくしゃにすると、「Wrappr!」と答えます。
恐らくこのステージのフォーカスは、先生(大人)とのコミュニケーションはもちろん、音の認識とその描写方法(一般的且つ的確な語彙の選択)の確認を狙っているのでしょう :)
それでは、本日もダイアローグと文法・発音ポイントに参ります。第十八弾です。(ご自由に教材としてお使い下さい。)
Dialogue between a Japanese tourist visiting Brisbane, Australia, and a local taxi driver
Adrian Duncan (AD):
Good evening.
Where would you like to go?
Tsunehiko Yabe (TY):
Good evening.
I’m Tsunehiko Yabe from Niigata in Japan.
My wife Ikuko and I arrived in Brisbane early this morning on a direct flight from Narita in Japan.
We are very keen rugby fans and our main reason for coming to Brisbane is to watch tonight’s big rugby test match between the All Blacks and Wallabies.
AD:
In that case, I assume you would like me to take you to Suncorp Stadium?
TY:
Yes, please.
The game starts at 7 p.m. Will we get there on time?
AD:
No problem.
Even though traffic is heavier than normal because of the game, I’m sure we will be outside the stadium by 6.30 p.m. at the latest.
TY:
That’s a big relief!
We’d hate to miss the start of the game and the All Blacks’ haka!
A bit later . . .
AD:
Here you are.
There’s the stadium entrance over there.
TY:
Thank you.
Would it be possible for you to pick us up after the game and take us to our hotel, which is the Westin Brisbane.
AD:
That’s a really nice hotel in a very convenient location.
I’d be happy to pick you up after the game is over.
However, as the roads will be very crowded immediately after the game finishes, can I suggest I pick you up beside that BP petrol station over there at 9.45 p.m.
If I pick you up then, it should take only 15 minutes to get to the Westin.
TY:
That will be great, thank you.

How was the game?
TY:
Very good, thank you.
As expected, the All Blacks were too strong for the Wallabies but it was a very exciting and enjoyable game.
We both enjoyed it immensely!
AD:
I’m really pleased to hear that.
It sounds as though the game alone made your journey here worthwhile!
TY:
It certainly did.
However, we’re only here for a couple of days and there’s a lot more we want to see and do.
AD:
If you wished, I’d be happy to assist you with suitable visits.
Where do you want to go?
TY:
There are a number of things we’d like to do but two priorities are to visit the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and to ride on the CityCat ferry on the Brisbane River.
AD:
In that case, I’d suggest that I take you first to Lone Pine and, after you’ve finished there, take you to the closest CityCat terminal, which is UQ St. Lucia.
You could either get off at a central Brisbane terminal, from where you could walk to the Westin, or you could travel all the way down the river to Northshore Hamilton, from where I could pick you up.

法助動詞willの意味は複数存在します。
疑問文で用い且つ主語が第二人称の時は「お願い」を表現しますが、第一人称と第三人称の時は「予測」を表現します。
Will you get there on time?
Will we get there on time?
肯定文で用いると主語を問わず「予測」を表現します。(第一人称の時のみ「意思」も表現します。)
以下は、主語が第一人称です。「予測」と「意思」のどちらの意味で用いられているでしょうか。
I’m sure we will be outside the stadium by 6.30 p.m. at the latest.
発音ポイント：
引き続き2音節語の発音の確認です。音節境界「.」と強調記号「ˈ」を意識して下さい。傾向として、第一音節に強調記号が来るのが分かります。という事は、英語では各語彙の音が後半に向けて弱まるという事です。よって、第一音節を自信を持って強く発音しなければ、聞き手に伝わり辛いということになります。
