Even if our wish comes true, the feeling of satisfaction is temporary, and soon the uncertainty of the future looms over our minds. Some people make their great wishes come true after a great deal of hard work, but they become so anxious about losing them that they are tormented by anxieties. Sometimes, they even wish they had never made the wishes come true in the first place.
Buddha taught that true happiness will not come from the constant pursuit of what we want. The happiness we do gain from satisfying our desires is not true happiness. True happiness is an entirely different kind of inner peace and satisfaction.
