Our mouths and bodies act like robots, simply following orders. It is the mind, which drives them, that bears the greatest responsibility. That’s why Buddha consistently placed more importance on the unseen mind than on visible actions or words. What thoughts are we harboring in our minds? The seeds we plant in our minds shape our lives. If our minds are filled with evil, our words and actions will follow, and we will inevitably suffer the consequences. On the other hand, when our minds are inclined toward goodness, our words and actions will naturally follow, leading to happiness. Buddha teaches that both suffering and happiness are creations of the mind.
All things are rooted in the mind, directed by the mind, and shaped by the mind. If we speak or act with a corrupted mind, suffering will follow. (...) But if we speak or act with a pure mind, joy and happiness will follow us.
