Some people only focus on taking things from others, whether it's power, money, or advice.
In Buddhism, this is known as the "sin of stealing." The "sin of stealing" is one of the "10 evils" that lead to misfortune. The Buddha taught that those who do this will be unhappy.
Taking without giving is considered stealing. If you always take from others without giving back, you are stealing from them. The law of cause and effect in Buddhism teaches us that giving and receiving are linked. You receive as much as you give. If you give ten, you receive ten. If you give a hundred, you receive a hundred.
