今日で最後のニュース英語シリーズ。
今回は Sahlab: The Middle East's answer to the latte（ラテに対する中東の答え、Sahlab）です。
とても美味しそうなクリスマス時期にピッタリのドリンクですので、機会があれば飲んでみたいです。

sunlit 「太陽で照らされた・日が差す」
sunは「太陽」で良いとして、問題はlitの方ですね。
実がコレ light の過去形・過去分詞形なんです。
lightには「光」という名詞の意味の他に、「照らす」という動詞の意味があります。
今回はその動詞の過去分詞形という事で、「太陽で照らされた」という形容詞のような意味になるんですね。
reveal
このブログでは何度か登場している、英検2級の単語ですね。
「明らかにする」という意味の動詞で、単語問題にも良く出てきます。
ライティングでは以下のように使えますね。
Various tests have revealed that CO2 emission negatively impacts on the environment.
（様々な検査で二酸化炭素の排出が環境に悪影響を与えると明らかにしている。）
stretch back 「さかのぼる」
stretchは体操のストレッチにように「（手足などを）伸ばす」という意味ですね。
また、「（時・記憶などが）～に及ぶ・わたる」という意味もあり、今回はbackをつけて「さかのぼる」というニュアンスになっています。

1口目は太陽が照りつくその地域のように暖かく花のような香りで、2口目は蘭の花びらのように柔らかく滑らかな舌触り。そして3口目でレバントの豊かな風味と、その地域に何世紀もさかのぼって広がっていたクリスマス休暇の伝統の味という、歴史の一部を垣間見ることができます。
viscousは「粘性の」という意味ですが、そのままでは飲み物の説明には適さないので「滑らかな」としました。
毎回思うのですが、英語での食べ物や飲み物の説明は本当に表現豊かですね。
綺麗に訳すのが本当に難しいです。。。
