都立高入試で英語の語彙力を効率的に伸ばしたい受験生へ
今回は、2025年度入試に出題された実際の長文に、CR90とCR95を適用し、その差を比べてみましょう。
以下は、大問４の高校生Shotaさんの心情を追う物語文です。
Later, Shota talked with Emi at home. He said, “ Thank you so much for encouraging me to try to do the work. ”Emi said, “I gave you information about the sports day. You decided to do the work and helped staff members and other people. That was great. ” Shota smiled and said, “I learned one thing today. It is important for me to take action without worrying.” Shota got #confidence through the experience. He was proud of himself.

最初にCR90を適用します。延べ80語（本文の総語数）に対して未掲載語は5語でした。カバー率は93.8％。全体としては、90％を超えていますが、物語の結末部分で未掲載語が4語も集中しており、主人公が何を学んでどのように心境が変化したのかが理解しにくくなります。

次にCR95を適用します。未掲載語は2語。カバー率は97.5％。良好なカバー率に加え、設計通りに未掲載語がCR90に比べ、5語から2語へと半減以下に激減しました。また、最後のproud(誇りに思う)が読み取れることで、主人公の成長と心情変化をより正確に理解できるようになります。

CR95が捕捉した、later、through、proud は、副詞・前置詞・感情を表す形容詞であり、文章の流れや人物の心情理解に重要な役割を果たします。まず、CR90でトップ500語を押さえ、さらにもう約300語をマスターすれば、これらの語彙が加わることで読解力が深まる効果が期待できます。
そして、2000語の単語帳を覚えることに比べ、はるかに少ない時間で都立長文読解にフォーカスした語彙力が身に付くのです。
