It made me realize that things were tough in various ways back then,
too.
Mental illnesses sometimes cannot be cured even with medication, and I think it is also difficult to try to heal them on your own.
But I respect the mindset and actions of someone who doesn't shy
away from that, but instead chooses to move forward while fully
embracing it.
I think you truly appreciate the value of freedom only after
experiencing the kind of suffering that comes from being constrained by parents, teachers, or adults; and I find it amazing that you allow others the freedom to choose, specifically to spare them from the experiences you yourself disliked.
I thought it was very kind.
I think it’s wrong—even terrible—for people to cross into restricted
areas. But I also think it’s admirable that they’ve moved past that and
are continuing to push forward.
You might still face hardships—and they may never go away completely—but I wanted you to keep overcoming them and moving forward.
It might be a slightly different situation, but I’ve also had times when
things weren't going well or bad things happened and I felt like dying. I used to wonder why I had to go through all that when I hadn't done
anything wrong. But instead of putting myself down, I decided to lift
myself up—to keep elevating myself—and now I feel ready to move forward. So, even though the specific circumstances might differ, I could
really relate to what you're saying.
I was really moved!!

Reading this passage made me think about joy and happiness. I think
the difference between joy and happiness is the duration. Happiness is an emotion of the moment, while joy is a deeper, longer-lasting
emotion. For example, happiness is the feeling of "I did it!" when you
reach your target score on a test. When you pass an exam, you might
feel elated and exclaim "I passed!", but that's happiness. Joy is what
gradually wells up afterward, like "It was worth the effort, I'm one step closer to my dream." So, to summarize, I felt that happiness is
momentary, while joy is cumulative. However, the part that resonated with me the most wasn't the section on joy and happiness. The
sentence that stuck with me the most was, "What is a shadow? It is a
part of yourself that you haven't yet acknowledged." Acknowledging
and integrating your shadow is a central process of individuation. I was deeply moved by this sentence. Because until now, I had thought of the parts of myself I didn't want to acknowledge, the parts I didn't know,
as fear. It's scary because you don't know. Perhaps I was turning my
back on them. I thought that by acknowledging my shadow, I might be able to feel a joy I've never seen or felt before. Walking with a shadow
in my face—even that made me realize that I am human. Just as my
teacher is a teacher, I felt that I must fight against those who trespass
into restricted areas in order to be myself. From now on, I want to
continue to express my own colors from among the world's paints, and I hope that people who have not yet found their own colors will see my colors and be able to color themselves.
