I will mention the previous workspace because I don’t work now. It was my co-workers and our clients. We worked with clients who are computer engineers who specialized in an insurance company. They gave our company jobs about making web pages for sale people of life insurance with them. We were shared jobs by the clients. So, we worked together. The clients and my colleagues on our team were very kind and smart. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable. So, I liked it.
It was not far from my place. There were only two stations between the closest station of our office and the closest one to my home. Besides, the train that I always used was not so crowded. Predominantly, trains in Japan are commonly packed in a rush-hour though. I think It was because our office was located in a Tokyo suburb.
It took only twenty-five minutes to get to our office. Thankfully, it took only five minutes to arrive at the closest station to my home. Then, I rode on a train for about ten minutes and walk to our workplace for ten minutes. Relatively, the office was close to my place.
4. Do you have foreigners in your workplace or all the same nationality with you?
Yes, we have some Filipino colleagues in our company. There was a branch in Manila, Philippines. I visited there once. It was located in the city. The president of my previous company gave me a chance to work there when I consulted about quitting my job. I concerned about it seriously and eventually, turned down the offer. I wanted to find what I want to do, so I needed time in those days. My previous company was not so bad, but I never regret my decision.
Certainly, it was easy to find it. Our office was in a high building which had nineteen levels. It stood out in the area because it is comparatively countryside in Tokyo.
Part2
Describe your most unforgettable moment in your workplace.
It was the first time when I chaired a meeting with our clients. It happened one year before I quitted my job. The topic was about a new software system for the agencies of the insurance company. I spent a lot of time to prepare for it. I made an agenda and practiced speaking well in front of the crowd. I am not good at speak to many people, so I was so nervous. I couldn’t explain well to our clients at that time. Besides, I couldn’t answer some questions from them. I strongly felt my lack of preparation and regretted that. After the meeting, my boss asked me what my score for the meeting was. I answered thirty out of one hundred. He corrected the score to minus ten. I was depressed about that. However, it was a great opportunity to know my level and what I should do. As I tried meetings, again and again, I could speak in front of the clients well. Eventually, my boss gave me a chance to become a team leader. I managed a team, though the team was very small. My job was tough, but it was challenging.
Part3
1. What are the factors to consider in choosing your workplace?
It is definitely colleagues. I want to have a boss who is respectful. If I can do that, I will be motivated to work. I always try to find that kind of person in my workplace. Then, I strive to reach the level of him or her.
2. What makes an employee stay/leave their workplace?
The enthusiasm for the job is important to work in a company. It gives us motivation and makes us work more effectively. Also, it is essential to think the best way always. It is not good to do just the thing a boss assigned. I liked my job when I was a computer engineer. So, tried to gain knowledge about the system that we deal with as much as possible. Moreover, I always consider the most effective way to complete my task quickly.
3. There is a proverb that says, "Sometimes it’s not the salary. It’s the workplace." Do you agree?
Undoubtfully, I agree with this. If we work in an awful workplace, it gives us some bad effects. For instance, if there are many lazy and ineffective people in the workplace, we might lose our enthusiasm. Also, If the environment of it is horrible such as noisy or dirty, we will be tired of it. We spend a long time for working. So, the workplace is very important to enjoy our life. I will absolutely emphasize the workplace much more than the salary.
