At a meeting of Hokkaido's Headquarters for Countermeasures against the New Coronavirus Infection held at 4:00 p.m. on December 10, the governor decided to extend the "period of intensive countermeasures" from December 11 to January 15 next year, by about one month.

The "strong request" issued to Sapporo City to "refrain from going out unnecessarily" and "refrain from traveling to and from outside Sapporo" was extended until December 25.

In addition, the "request for closure of restaurants with entertainment in the entire city of Sapporo" and the "request for shortened hours for serving alcoholic beverages in the Susukino area" have also been extended until December 25.

On the other hand, Asahikawa City, where the Self-Defense Forces are dispatching disaster relief workers to medical institutions, was newly requested to refrain from going out unnecessarily for two weeks until December 25.

In addition, Governor Suzuki asked the city to refrain from eating and drinking for "more than five people" and "more than two hours" and from "greeting people during the year-end and New Year holidays" until January 15, except in the case of people living together.
