Hokkaido Airport held an event to walk along the runway of New Chitose Airport.
This is one of the projects being carried out in cooperation with the province and the Hokkaido Tourism Promotion Organization.
Participants were able to experience the vastness of the runway firsthand and enjoy this valuable opportunity.
A walk along the runway was planned with the aim of creating an opportunity for residents to get in touch with the airport.
Twenty pairs of 40 people were selected from 320 applicants from Sapporo and Tokyo, among others, by lottery.
The participants gathered shortly after 5 a.m. and were transported by bus to the restricted area.
They were surprised at the size of the runway, which they are not usually allowed to stand on, and some pointed their cameras at the beauty of the runway.
In addition to walking, there were also parents and children running or lying down to enjoy themselves.
