Kakenhi Proposal Review Support

After graduating from a Japanese university, I have ten years experience as research administrator (URA) at two different universities. As research administrator I was responsible for setting up a support program for non-Japanese for acquiring Kakenhi. I have created a handbook on Kakenhi and how to write a proposal in English, organized proposal brush-up seminars on Kakenhi in English and have reviewed proposals. I have reviewed more than a hundred proposal in both English and Japanese, including not only Kakenhi proposals, but also other other grants like Presto (Sakigake) and foreign grants. For non-Japanese it requires more effort to write a decent proposal in English, because the format is much different from the format of foreign funding agencies. Necessary information like the screening process is also more difficult to find. Therefore, here I would like to offer my experience to brush-up Kakenhi proposals by non-Japanese in English.
