Today's astrophysics says the universe is like an infinite number of bubbles. Many bubbles of varying sizes come out, and then they burst. Each one of them is a universe. The universe in which we live is one of those bubbles.
According to the equation of superstring theory, the number of bubbles is 10 to the power of 500 (10^500). The number 10^500 means that there are 500 more zeros to the number 10. There's an unbelievable number of universes out there.
Of all the universes, the number of worlds where lifeforms like us could exist is 10^-120. So there is a very low probability that lifeforms would exist in the bubble universe.
Sakyamuni Buddha also explained how difficult it is to be born as a human being using the parable of "the Blind Turtle and the Floating Log."

Imagine a log floating on the vast ocean. At the bottom of the sea is a lone blind turtle. Once every hundred years, that blind turtle rises and puts its head above the surface of the ocean. This single log is floating aimlessly west, east, south, and north across the vast ocean. In the middle of that log, there's a hole the size of a small fist.
The Buddha asks his disciple, "Do you think that this blind turtle, which comes to the surface once in a hundred years, will ever be able to put its head through the hole in this log?”
The disciple replied, “No, it would be unthinkable for a blind turtle to aim for this one log on the vast ocean and then get its head into the hole too.”
“Then are you sure it will never happen?”
“Maybe, just maybe, it might happen if this repeats over billions and billions of years or trillions and trillions of years. It is that unlikely.”

The Buddha taught that to be born human is even more unlikely than this turtle putting its head into the hole in the log, and that we should be thankful for it. It means that something that is almost impossible has happened.
