21st anniversary of 9/11 terror attacks

On that day, I was watching CNN on TV in the living room, and then, the breaking news came in, showing two airplanes smashed into the World Tread Center buildings. 

Far away from Japan, it was like a move scene. I couldn’t believe it was real. I immediately contacted my American friend with whom I was exchanging languages because her hometown was Conneticut, next to NY.

 Few days later when I met her, she told me that 9/11 attacks itself devastated her, but besides that, the fact nobody in her workplace didn’t care about her was really heartbreaking. She was working in a junior high school as an English Language Teacher.

These are photos I took in Ground Zero about 10years later after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. I was standing speechless there to think about the day.

2001年は英検1級にむけて勉強していた時期。

毎日CNNニュースを見ていた。

その頃、日本に来てELTの仕事をしていたアメリカ人の女の子と日本語・英語のexchangeをしていた。コネチカット州出身でブラウン大学をでたばかりの可愛らしい女性で、日本語の勉強に熱心だった。

テロ事件の衝撃を彼女と語り、一緒に泣いた。

それから10年くらいして、旅行でNYを訪れた。

Ground Zeroで犠牲になった方の家族のお話を聞いた。

言葉がなかった。

何年たっても鮮明な記憶だ。
