On the 21st, school lunches using scallops from Hokkaido, where consumption is sluggish due to the corona crisis, were served at elementary and junior high schools.
This is part of the province's project to promote school lunches.
The aim is to have people deepen their understanding of the foodstuff and increase their consumption.
About 67 tons of scallops are provided.
A total of 13 school lunch menus using scallops and beef will be offered in the town from September this year to February next year.
On this day, about 700 meals such as scallop rice and pork soup were served.
Among them, in the classroom of the first grade students of Akkeshi elementary school, after greeting "Itadakimasu" with all the students, they all ate the rice at once.
Even the children who were not very good at scallops ate them all up without leaving a trace, saying, “It's delicious”.
