鵡川のシシャモ 記録的不漁

This season's shishamo fishery in the Mukawa Fishery Cooperative Union ended on November 9.
The amount of fish caught was only about 3 tons, less than a tenth of last year's poor catch of 38 tons.
The total amount was only about 14.7 million yen, more than 40 million yen less than the previous year.
The fishermen are concerned about the record-breaking lack of fishing, and they are hurrying to find out the cause.
This season's shishamo smelt fishing started on October 1.
Like last year, a total of 22 vessels were in operation for 21 days, but there was not a single day during the period when they landed more than one ton of fish.
Many boats pulled out of the fishing grounds early every day, and the last day, the 9th, ended with no sailing due to barges.
In recent years, the trend was below 30 tons for five consecutive years from 2011 to 2003, but it has recovered since 2004 due to resource management efforts.
However, last year, it was about 38.3 tons and again fell below 50 tons.
This result makes me wonder what's happening to the shishamo smelt.
One possible reason for the lack of fishing is the high sea temperature, which delayed the arrival of the fish, but details are not yet known.
Research institutes are expected to conduct an investigation in the future.
