The Buddhist philosopher Nagarjuna (ca. 150-250) expressed the reality of human goodness this way:
"Even if you pour two or three jugs of boiling water on a frozen pond four miles around, the next day, the ice there will swell up."
In other words, boiling water may have power to melt ice, but overnight it too will freeze. In the same way, human goodness is overwhelmed by our overriding capacity for evil.
From the Buddhism point of view, we are all evil even though we do good deeds. This is the very teaching of Buddhism.
