Midjourney Prompt: back to the future, cinema, low detail, thick lines, no shading
"Back to the Future," a sci-fi film series directed by Steven Spielberg, was produced between 1985 and 1990. It is considered Spielberg's masterpiece. In the opening scene of the third installment, the following dialogue occurs. It may be a bit complex, but in this scene, we have "1955 Doc" and "1985 Marty" portrayed by the characters.
Throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, we have continued to experience an unprecedented speed of scientific evolution beyond our imagination. Even within 30 years, the international landscape and how science and technology functioned completely transformed. Now, in 2023, 40 years after this work was created, we may not have floating skateboards or cars, but instead, a revolution is taking place in the electronic world centered around the internet. We stand at the gateway to the future.
With technological advancements, there also comes a process of natural selection. A large-scale actor labor union strike began in Hollywood, USA, on July 14th. It is the largest strike in the past 43 years and has already significantly impacted various industries. Actors are currently experiencing a drastic decline in royalty earnings from their appearances. This is because, instead of traditional mediums like television and DVDs, everyone now watches movies through online streaming platforms like Netflix. Currently, there are no established compensation regulations for actors about online streaming. Furthermore, they are also facing the threat of their profession becoming obsolete due to artificial intelligence.
As a writer and someone involved in the creative field, I, like most creative professionals, must adapt our working styles due to the impact of artificial intelligence. It is not a matter of our jobs disappearing from the market but evolving into different roles. Therefore, it is futile to claim that one's livelihood cannot be sustained due to the inability to adapt to change. However, as comrades in the creative field, I fully understand the pain of such transformations. Depending on the nature of the changed work, one may feel as though everything they aspire to, their passions, and their path have been invalidated. It is an incredibly bitter experience.
Nevertheless, we must continue to live. If possible, we should strive to elevate our talents alongside new technologies. The door to the future has already opened, and we have no choice but to move forward.
